Farmers Market for Kids

Barb Miller has a fun summer project for kids. Take kids on a field trip to a farmer’s market or farm to buy/see how fruits and vegetables are raised.
Then come back and prepare and sample some of these fresh fruits and vegetables. For example, take children strawberry picking and then come back and make homemade ice cream and top it with fresh strawberries. Or, go to a tomato farm, pick tomatoes and come back and make some fresh salsa. To encourage children to try new fruits and vegetables, give them a “passport” and stamp it each time they try a new fruit or vegetable. Have a small prize once their passport is full – say 10 new fruits and vegetables.
