DASH What's The Difference?
Place 2 tables in the front of the room. On one table, place processed foods that are high in sodium. On the other table, place fresh foods along with foods that contain no added salt.
Greet your participants and ask them if they can tell you the difference between the two tables. Encourage them to guess and discuss the items they see.Explain the importance of a diet that is based on whole plant foods and fresh meat, poultry and fish. Practice label reading for high-sodium foods. It is helpful to compare the mg of sodium to the calories to determine if a food is high in sodium.
