5 MinBreakfast is served in the most delicious way with applies, cherries and a drizzle of honey on oatmeal.
Ingredients
- 1 cup steel cut oats
- 3 cups water
- 1/2 cup dried apples, chopped
- 1/2 cup dried cherries (pitted)
- big dash of apple pie spice
- drizzle honey (1/2 teaspoon per person)
- skim or soy milk (1/2 cup per person)
Instructions
- Place the oats, water, dried fruit and spice into a crock pot. Cover with a lid and turn on high. Cook for 2 hours. The oatmeal is done when the water is absorbed and the oatmeal is thick.
- Serve warm with milk (use 1/2 cup skim milk per person) and a little drizzle of honey or chill for later use.
- Chef's Tips: You can also turn this into a dessert by topping with whipped cream and a drizzle of honey - we are showing it both ways in the photos but the nutrition analysis is for the breakfast.
